Demolition Permit

Who Needs This Permit?
Anyone who wishes to demolish a building or any portion of a building within the Municipality of the District of Shelburne.

Application Forms & Process:
An application must be filled out and submitted for issuance, including building size and distance to other buildings, property lines and public streets. A municipal Waste Information Sheet must be filled out with every permit application.
 
Waiting Period:
The permit is normally issued right away, once all items which must accompany the application have been received, and all requirements are met, unless the property is deemed to be a heritage property.
 
Price:
Permit: $20
 
Expiry & Renewal:
This permit is valid for 12 months from the date it is issued. It can be renewed each year for $5.00.
 
Related Requirements:
It may be necessary to contact the Nova Scotia Power Corporation (re: disconnecting power), Nova Scotia Environment and Labout (re: sewer connection, well on property), and Department of Transportation (if near a public road).

Also possibly the Department of Natural Resources for a burning permit between the months of April and October.
