You can get an application form from the office
listed above. Complete the form, and return it to the Development Officer,
along with 10 copies of the plan of subdivision, the application fee and
the registration fee (see Price..., below).
In some cases, there are other approvals which you will have to obtain
before you can get a subdivision approval (see Related
Requirements, below).
If the subdivision plan is approved, it is then registered in the local
Registry of Deeds Office.

| Waiting Period: |

Usually 3 to 4 weeks from when the completed
application is received. If the application is neither approved nor
refused within 90 days after it is received, it is considered to be refused
(unless both the Development Officer and the applicant agree to an extension).

This Approval, once registered, does not expire.

Application fee: $100.00 (Payable to the Region of Queens Municipality)
Plus applicable Registry of Deeds Fees: $150.00 (Payable
to the Registry of Deeds)
(This includes:
Registration of Notice of Approval of a Plan of
Subdivision: $70.00,
Registration of Plan of Subdivision: $70.00, and
One Certified Copy of Plan: $10.00)

The following approvals may be required before
a Subdivision Approval can be granted:
- If you are not connecting to the municipal sewer system, you may
need approval for the installation of an On-Site
Sewage Disposal System [or septic tank] from the Nova Scotia Environment and Labour.
- If you want to erect a structure within 100 metres of the centerline
of a public highway, or if you want to create a new access to a property
from a public highway, you will need to get a Building
Near a Highway and Access to Property Permit from the N.S. Department
of Transportation.
