Trade and Licensing Permit

Who Needs This Permit?
 

Anyone who wants to do business as an auctioneer, peddler, hawker, or trader of goods within the Town of Parrsboro.

See exceptions to this under Additional Information below.

Application Forms & Process:
 

You can get an application form by visiting, phoning or fwriting the office above. The completed application, along with the applicable fee, can be dropped off in person, or mailed to the Town Office.

If all requirements are met, and the application is approved, the applicant is notified by phone.
 

Waiting Period:
 

The application is normally processed withinin 30 days from the date it is received.

(Please allow several extra days for mail delivery.)
 

Expiry & Renewal:
  This Permit is valid for from April 1 of one year, to Marsh 31 of the next. It can be renewed, the municipality will send out a renewal notice, to the Permit holder, before it expires.
 
Price & Payment: (No tax is charged)
  The annual fee for a Permit as an auctioneer, peddler, hawker or trader of goods shall be as follows:
  1. Where the applicant is both a resident and a ratepayer of the Town.......$250.00
  2. Where the applicant is a non-resident ratepayer of the Town.................$250.00
  3. Where the applicant is a resident, but not a ratepayer of the Town.........$250.00
  4. Where the applicant is neither a resident nor a ratepayer of the Town.....$500.00

Payment can be made by cash, cheque or money order, made out to the Town of Parrsboro.

Additional Information:
 

The Trade and Licensing Bylaw does not apply to:

  1. Any person offering to sell the products of the farm, the forest or the sea;
  2. Any sheriff, bailiff, or other officer of the law selling under legal process; or
  3. Any members of supporters of a charitable organization registered under the Income Tax Act of Canada, church, school, sports team or service club engaging in the raising of funds in support of the object of such organization.
