Subdivision / Consolidation Approval

Who Needs This Permit?
  Anyone who wants to divide any area of land or consolidate two or more parcels of land, in the Town of Oxford.

Application Forms & Process:
 

You can apply at the office above. Please include a copy of the site plan and the fee, when you apply.
 

Waiting Period:
 

Usually 2 weeks from when you first apply.
 

Price & Payment:  (No tax is charged)
 

Application fee: $50

Plus applicable Registry of Deeds Fees: $150.00
(This includes:
Registration of Notice of Approval of a Plan of Subdivision: $70.00,
Registration of Plan of Subdivision: $70.00, and
One Certified Copy of Plan: $10.00)

Registration of Deed: $70.00

Payment is by cash, cheque or money order make out to the Town of Oxford.
 

Expiry & Renewal:
 

This Approval, once registered, does not expire.
 

Related Requirements:
  The following approvals may be required before a Subdivision Approval can be granted:
  1. If you are not connecting to a sewer system, you may need approval for the installation of an Sewage Disposal System [or septic tank] from the Nova Scotia Environment and Labour. 

  2. If you want to erect a structure within 100 metres of the centerline of a public highway, or if you want to create a new access to a property from a public highway, you will need to get a Building Near a Highway and Access to Property Permit from the N.S. Department of Transportation.
