Development Permit

Who Needs This Permit?
  Anyone who wants to erect, construct, alter, replace, relocate or add to any structure (including advertising signs), and anyone who wants to make any change or alteration in the use made of land or structures, within the Town of Oxford.

Application Forms & Process:
 

You can get an application for this Permit by visiting or phoning the town office listed above.

Along with the completed application, please submit plans for the proposed development.

If all requirements are met, and the application is approved, the permit will be mailed to the applicant.
 

Waiting Period:
 

The Permit is processed within 3 to 5 business days, once all items which must accompany the application have been received, and all requirements are met.

(Please allow several extra days for mail delivery.)

Free
 

Expiry & Renewal:
  The Permit is valid for one year from the date it is issued. It can be renewed. It is the responsibility of the Permit holder to contact the Municipality before it expires; NO NOTICE of renewal will be sent out by the Municipality.
 
Related Requirements:
 

Prior approvals required:

  1. Subdivision approval (if applicable)
  2. On-site sewage disposal permits (if applicable)
  3. Central sewer connection permission (if applicable)
     
Additional Information:
  Building permits cannot be issued in zoned areas until a Development Permit is first issued. Some parts of the Municipal district are not subject to a Land Use Bylaw. Check with the Development Officer or Building Inspector.
