Development Permit

Who Needs This Permit?
  A Development Permit is required for the erection, alteration and change of use for any building, structure and/or lot in the Municipality of Barrington.

Application Forms & Process:
  Application should be made on the application form available from the office noted. The applicant will be notified by mail within 15 days of receipt of the application and within 30 days of a completed application.
Waiting Period:
  The approximate time frame for approval of a completed application is up to three weeks.
Price:
  There are no fees, bonds or deposits required for a Development Permit.
Expiry & Renewal:
  The Permit is good for only the time period specified on it. Once it expires, you have to get a new one.
Related Requirements:
  Lot approval from Environment and Labour or approval to connect to public sewer, access to highway approval from Department of Transportation.
Additional Information:
  The Development Permit applies to all uses permitted within a particular zone.
Legislative Authority:
  Chapter 346 of the Revised Statutes, 1989. Planning Act. Section 83.
Municipal Land Use Bylaw, Part V, General Provisions for All Zones, page 20, paragraph 1.a).
