Demolition Permit

Who Needs This Permit?
  Anyone who wants to demolish a building or part thereof in the Town of Amherst.

Application Forms & Process:
 

An application form can be obtained by contacting the Town Hall (please see Where Can You Get . . . above. The completed application form is submitted to the Municipality along with the application fee. If a portion of a building is being removed, an engineer report may be required, confirming the stability of the remaining portion of the building.

The applicant is notified of the results at the time of application, or by phone.

Waiting Period:
 

Permit: can be issued immediately

Renewal: can be issued immediately

Price & Payment:
 

Initial Fee: $20

Renewal Fee: $5

Payment can be made by cash, Interac, cheque or Credit Card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express).

Expiry & Renewal:
 

This approval is good for one year, from the date it is issued. It is the responsibility of the holder of the permit to contact the Town of Amherst to get a new one.
