Partnerships with Municipalities, First Nations communities and other
stakeholders are fundamental to the success of this project. Two key factors
contributing to the timely maintenance of the NSCAF data are:
- agreements with Municipalities and First Nations communities outlining
ownership and access rights to the data
- development of internet-based maintenance and browsing applications
NSCAF Web Tools enable users to make changes to graphic and tabular components
of the central database interactively. A secure maintenance application allows municipal, First Nations, and other users to perform "live" editing functions on database features relating to their respective jurisdictions.
An internet "viewer" application allows emergency responders and other users
to quickly retrieve graphics (in the form of a map display) and tabular
information about a given civic address location anywhere in the province.
Access to this application is also secured by protected user name and account
information.
Approximately 5000 new civic addresses are
added annually.
