Data Assembly and Field Verification

Data Assembly
Civic addressing information from various sources, both hard copy and digital, tabular and graphic were assembled and integrated with appropriate components of various corporate datasets, including the Nova Scotia Coodinate Referencing System (NSCRS), the Nova Scotia Topographic Database (NSTDB) and the Nova Scotia Property Records Database (NSPRD), among others. The assembled data was then integrated into GIS software for use in field vehicles.

Field Verification / Collection
Private contractors travelled the province to record or confirm civic addressing information for every visible civic addressable structure or entity in the province. Additional information, such as number of dwelling units and building use, was also assigned to each geo-referenced building "point". Road names and aliases were assigned to centreline geometry. Spatial information about newly constructed buildings and roads were captured during the field exercise using global positioning system (GPS) technology.

Rigorous quality assurance procedures have been employed to inspire the highest level of confidence in the resulting data.
