| Nova Scotia Topographic Database
(NSTDB) Series Maps |
NSTDB Large Scale Series 1:2000 and 1:5000 |
| Service Nova Scotia, in conjunction with other
government departments and municipalities, has created a "large display
scale" mapping series (1:2000 / 1:5000) for specific areas across the
province. These maps cover selected urban centres or areas where large infrastructure
programs such as highway construction will occur. Projected as MTM ATS77.
The majority of these maps are available as digital paper plots with a limited
number of sheets available only as white prints duplicated from the mylar
originals. |

NSTDB 1:10 000 Topographic Series
The 1:10 000 series consists of 1600 maps covering the entire province.
Buildings, hydrography, designated areas, landcover, road, rail and utility
networks, contours and other features are portrayed. This popular scale
provides a level of detail and accuracy necessary for various mapping purposes.
It is available in UTM NAD83 or MTM ATS77 projection. These maps are digitally
plotted on demand (as requested) to ensure currency. |

NSTDB 1:50 000 Topographic Series
The 1:50 000 series consists of 102 colour maps (under production) covering
the entire province. Data was derived from the 1:10 000 NSTDB mapping series
for consistent topology across differing scales while maintaining the 1:10
000 accuracy. Includes contours at 10 m intervals. The land cover was provided
by the Dept of Natural Resouces. The text layers contain the entire contents
of the Nova Scotia Gazetteer. Projected using UTM NAD83. These maps are
digitally plotted on demand (as requested) to ensure currency. |

NSTDB 1:50 000 Coastal Series
The Nova Scotia Coastal Series consists of 132 (under production) colour
maps of the province's coastal zone as defined by the twelve mile limit
including complete coverage for the Bay of Fundy. The Coastal portion of
this series contains shaded bathymetry polygons in salt water plus the Canadian
Hydrographic Service charts and symbology. The Land based portion of this
series duplicates the 1:50 000 NSTDB Topographic Series (see above) with
consistent topology while maintaining the 1:10 000 accuracy. Projected using
UTM NAD 83. These maps are digitally plotted on demand (as requested) to
ensure currency.
