Yes, the landlord can request postdated rent cheques. Does the tenant have to pay the rent on time? Yes, the tenant has to pay the rent on the due date. Does the landlord have to go to the tenant to collect the rent? No, the tenant is responsible to make sure the landlord receives the rent on the due date. Can the landlord charge a late payment fee? Yes, one percent per month of the monthly rent. Can the tenant withhold rent payments? No, the tenant has to pay the rent. Can a landlord take the tenant's belongings and sell them if the tenant owes rent? Only if the landlord has a court order to do so. |
