Consumer Information - Consumer Rights - Embalmers and Funeral Directors Act
The Embalmers and Funeral Directors Act and regulations create rights for consumers. Some of those rights are described below. Please refer to the Act and regulations if you need a complete description of consumer rights.

Rights of consumers or obligations of permit holders:

- Embalmers and Funeral Directors are required to hold permits issued by the Board of Registration of Embalmers and Funeral Directors. To qualify for a permit, individuals must demonstrate a high degree of knowledge and technical competence in their area of professional practice.

- A funeral home must have a permit in order to operate. There are minimum requirements for funeral home facilities, equipment and staffing.

- A casket display must contain at least 6 adult caskets, one of which is the lowest price casket available.
