If you pay the household energy bills, you may qualify for Your Energy Rebate.
If your current property assessment indicates 100% “residential taxable”, or a combination of “residential taxable” with “resource taxable”, “resource forest”, or “resource exempt”, your bulk vendor of home heating oil, propane, natural gas or firewood will deduct your rebate from your bill. For electricity, if your rate code is a residential code, your power provider will deduct your rebate from your bill.
If your property is assessed as partly residential taxable you may still qualify for a rebate. You will have to apply as a mixed used property. See Application Form Landlord and/or Mixed Residential/Commercial/Resource Farm Application for Your Energy Rebate.
Effective October 1, 2009, the electricity portion of the rebate will be expanded to all residential usage. All electricity consumed for residential purposes on or after October 1, 2009, will be eligible for the 8% rebate. If you are being billed at the domestic service rate, the rebate will be automatically deducted from your bill. The base charge will also be eligible for the rebate.
Until September 30, 2009, only electricity that exceeded a threshold of 27.4 kilowatt hours per day times the number of days before October 1, 2009 on the bill is eligible for the rebate. The base charge was not eligible for the rebate.
For all other home energy products (e.g., wood pellets, kerosene, cylinder propane) purchased on or after December 1, 2006, you must complete an application form to receive Your Energy Rebate. If you purchase firewood from a vendor other than a registered Bulk Vendor, you must complete an application form to receive Your Energy Rebate. See Application Form Consumer Application for Your Energy Rebate.
