I. Description |
Pass legislation allowing the Government of Nova Scotia to launch legal proceedings to recover financial damages to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care caused by the harmful effects of tobacco products.
Assist the Government of Nova Scotia as part of a national coalition pursuing co-ordinated civil legal actions to recover financial damages to respective health-care systems caused by the harmful effects of tobacco products.
Hold the tobacco industry legally responsible for selling dangerous products, targeting teenagers in their marketing campaigns, withholding or altering scientific data proving cigarettes are unsafe, conspiring to evade and evading provincial and federal taxation on tobacco products, concealing the dangerous health effects on so-called “light” and “mild” cigarettes, and other illegal and untruthful activities that have resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of Nova Scotians and caused untold pain to those victims’ families.
