Description of Organization: The Rick Hansen Foundation was established as a Canadian charity in 1988 and has since been dedicated to Rick’s life-long goal of creating an inclusive world where people with disabilities are living to their full potential. For over three decades, the Foundation has raised awareness, changed attitudes, and removed barriers for people with disabilities, as well as fund innovations that accelerate the progress of spinal cord injury research leading to a cure for paralysis. The mission of the Rick Hansen Foundation (RHF) is to create and deliver innovative solutions that lead to a global movement to remove barriers and liberate the potential of people with disabilities.
RHF programs include:
• RHF Accessibility CertificationTM (RHFAC) - a unique program that trains accessibility professionals to rate the built environment based on meaningful access from the perspective of people with mobility, vision and hearing disabilities.
• The RHF School program - free educational resources focused empowering the next generation of access and inclusion champions
• The RHF Ambassador program - people with disabilities that share their stories and the importance of access and inclusion with schools and communities across the country
