Description of Organization:
The main objective of the Association is to promote the interests of Nova Scotia fish and seafood producers by making effective representations to the appropriate federal and provincial government departments. The Association maintains an ongoing liaison with officials of numerous government departments and agencies which have responsibilities affecting the fisheries industry. Prominent among these are the Federal Departments of Fisheries and Oceans, External Affairs and International Trade, Transport; the NS Department of Agriculture and Fisheries; the Canadian Food Inspection Agency; and the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board.

Description of Membership:
The Seafood Producers Association of Nova Scotia is a major trade association representing fish and seafood processors and exporters in Nova Scotia. The Association currently has 11 member companies representing a large percentage of the fish and seafood produced in Nova Scotia. The member companies also operate a significant portion of the larger vessel fishing fleet in Nova Scotia. Each member company is represented on the Board of Directors.
