Senior abuse can include physical, sexual, emotional, and financial abuse, as well as violation of seniors' rights and neglect. We are committed to preventing the abuse of older Nova Scotians.

Nova Scotia Senior Abuse Awareness Campaign
The Nova Scotia Department of Seniors operates a non-emergency Senior Abuse Line 1- 877- 833- 3377 for referrals and support to anyone with concerns about a possible situation of abuse. For more information about reporting abuse, click here
Learn more about our support of Seniors' Safety Programs. These programs promote education and awareness about crime prevention, senior abuse and safety and health issues and enhance communication between seniors and police. These Senior Safety Grants, a joint initiative of the Departments of Seniors and Justice, continue to advance our Elder Abuse Strategy by supporting programs that provide resources and supports that respond to abuse of seniors.
