Workforce Survey - Count Yourself In

The government of Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union and the Nova Scotia Highway Workers Union are committed to providing a workplace that is free of discrimination and promotes equality of opportunity for all persons accessing employment positions within the Government of Nova Scotia.

Fairness and equity helps ensure that staffing decisions, access to training, and other opportunities are based on merit, and that no one is excluded for reasons unrelated to qualifications and ability. Our goal is to be a diverse workforce, at all levels of our organization.

To pursue this objective, we need accurate information about our employee population. By completing this survey you will assist in the preparation of a profile that shows the diversity of our workforce. The survey will take five minutes to complete.

The more people who complete and return the questionnaire, the more accurate our profile will be. Information collected will facilitate the planning and implementation of Employment Equity activities.

The Employment Equity Policy

The policy provides the mandate for the collection of information in order to develop a workforce profile of the designated groups who are employed in the Public Service.

Self-identification is voluntary. However, we can only have accurate information on our workforce if you complete the Self-Identification Survey form as fully and accurately as possible.

Your participation is important in helping to:

  • get an accurate profile of who we are, and how representative we are of the workforce;
  • identify areas where changes in policies, practices and systems are likely to be most effective in achieving fairness and equity in employment;
  • bring focus to where we need to eliminate barriers which limit or exclude designated groups from opportunities which should be open to all employees.
