The Government of Nova Scotia is committed to a healthy, safe, and supportive workplace in which diversity is valued and where all persons are treated with respect and dignity.

Policy

The Respectful Workplace Policy addresses harassment, sexual harassment, and discrimination that affects the workplace and the well-being of individuals in the workplace. Harassment, sexual harassment, and discrimination will not be tolerated.

This policy promotes awareness, prevention, and the resolution of offensive behaviour. It is important for all employees and managers to know how to resolve issues at the earliest time possible.

Offensive behaviour includes conduct or comments that are or that can be perceived to be belittling, condescending, insulting, derogatory, racist, sexist, discriminatory, aggressive, angry or antagonistic.

Required Training

Managers must take a one-day course called "Leading a Respectful Workplace."

Employees must take a half-day course called "Respectful Workplace."
