Health Eating Nova Scotia Strategy
Healthy Eating Nova Scotia is a planning framework for action on healthy eating and was released in March, 2005. The provincial strategy builds on and complements other local, provincial and federal healthy development and chronic disease prevention initiatives (including tobacco reduction and physical activity promotion).
Healthy Eating Nova Scotia focuses on the health of the population as a whole, while aiming to reduce health inequities among Nova Scotians. The document is intended for people involved in making or influencing decisions about policies, programs, or services that influence the way Nova Scotians eat. It is intended as a support tool at the provincial, regional, and community levels.
Four action areas were identified as priorities for achieving the strategy’s vision:
Changes in these areas were determined to have the biggest impact on the health of Nova Scotians.
