Youth Conservation Corps

EN-Vision Program

En-Vision is a new program of the Nova Scotia Youth Conservation Corps. The NSYCC recognizes that there are many young adults around the province who have developed, or would like to develop ideas for projects that are aimed at improving the environment at the community level. The NSYCC will be providing support (both financial and other) to individuals and groups of youth aged 17-30 who submit a proposal to the Youth Corps under the new program. Successful applicants may be provided up to $5,000 to develop and/or carry out a community-based environmental project.

Criteria for Funding

  • youth must be between 17 and 30 years of age
  • the project must not extend past 4 months in length, and can be as short as one day
  • the project must occur within Nova Scotia
  • youth must develop a budget and be able to show that 50% of the total project (can be in-kind) does not come from the NSYCC
  • the project must involve environmental education
  • the youth must submit a final report at the end of the project period

Application Process

Youth are asked to write a brief (maximum 3 page) proposal outlining his/her project. This will include a description of the project, as well as a timeline and a budget. Please explain why this project is important, and who will benefit from the project. As well, please identify which Nova Scotian community the project will take place in. If there are any other groups or individuals providing resources to the project, please attach a letter of support if possible.

Please note that this position is dependent on confirmation of NSYCC 2010/2011 program funding.
