The Eco-Efficiency Business Assistance Program (E2BAP) is an initiative to encourage eco-efficiency and pollution prevention in industry in Nova Scotia.
The E2BAP includes four flexible components which are available to eligible small to medium sized businesses:
Some clients may use all four components, while others participate in those that are most beneficial.
The program will contribute 75% (to a maximum of $6000) towards an eco-efficiency opportunity assessment and an implementation assessment. The pilot program identified some very impressive opportunities for improving utilization of energy, materials and water, while at the same time, improving the bottom line. The total potential annual savings identified for the 15 participating companies during the pilot was $1,115,000. Potential pollution prevention opportunties include: toxic reduction of 2.3 tonnes, wastewater reduction of 19,900 m3, solid waste reduction of 3,000 tonnes, and 108,963 million Btu of energy reduction.
The delivery agency for the program is the Eco-Efficiency Centre and the sponsors include Environment Canada, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), Natural Resources Canada, Nova Scotia Environment and Labour, Nova Scotia Office of Economic Development, Nova Scotia Department of Energy and Nova Scotia Power Inc.
