Description

This is to advise that on February 21, 2008, CGC Inc., Fundy Gypsum registered the proposed Miller's Creek Mine Extension Project, Hants County for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to mine gypsum from a surface mine in Miller's Creek, Hants County beginning in the second half of 2008. The mine life, including construction, operation and reclamation is anticipated to be 50 years.

Update

On March 17, 2008, the Minister of Environment and Labour released a decision (PDF: 106k) on the proposed Undertaking. The Minister has determined that a Focus Report will be required.

Opportunities for Public Input

Public comments regarding this project were accepted until March 6, 2008.

Comments submitted are available in the library on the 5th floor of the Nova Scotia Environment and Labour, Halifax Office and will be made available to the public.
