Martock Ridge Community Wind Project

Description

This is to advise that on June 4, 2013, Scotian WindFields Inc., Scotian Wind Inc., and WEB Wind Energy North America Inc. registered an addendum to the Martock Ridge Community Wind Project Registration Document originally submitted on January 13, 2013, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

The addendum is in response to the Minister of Environment’s decision dated March 7, 2013, wherein it was advised that the information contained in the Registration Document was insufficient to allow for a decision and that additional information was required. The additional information required was related to proximity of the proposed Project to receptors, and demonstrating compliance with setback distances, noise levels and shadow flicker guidelines. In addition, detailed information was requested related to the steps take to address concerns regarding the protection of the Mill Lakes Watershed Protected Area.

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to construct and operate a 6.0 MW Wind Project at a site in the community of Three Mile Plains, approximately 7 km southeast of Windsor, Nova Scotia in Municipality of West Hants. Pending approval to proceed, construction is anticipated to commence Spring/Summer 2013 with operations to begin Fall/Winter 2013.

Minister's Decision

On July 24, the Minister of Environment released a decisionPDF Download Link (PDF:67k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act.
