Highway 113 Project

Location

Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Public Works (TPW) is proposing the construction and operation of a four-lane, controlled access highway (Highway 113) connecting Highway 102, near Exit 3 (Hammonds Plains), and Highway 103, just west of Exit 4 (Sheldrake Lake), Halifax County.

Project Status

Terms of Reference released October 16, 2006. Environmental Assessment Report required by October 16, 2008. Extension of one year requested and granted, Environmental Assessment Report required by October 16, 2009.

Description

On July 10, 2006 the Minister determined that an Environmental Assessment Report is required.

TPW is proposing the construction and operation of a four-lane, controlled access highway (Highway 113). The purpose of the proposed highway is to provide a more efficient means of travel for motorists between Highway 103 and Highway 102, that bypasses the Halifax urban core and relieves congestion on the Hammonds Plains Road. This highway would be 9.9 km in length.
