Cambridge Pit

Description

Lawson Bennett Trucking Ltd. is proposing to expand its existing pit operation off Highway 1, Cambridge, Kings Co. Sand will be extracted for wastewater treatment systems and gravel for road and building construction. The proposed operating schedule is 13 hours/day, 6 days per week, 12 months a year. Final reclamation is expected in 2013.

Minister's Decision

On September 19, 2003, the Minister of Environment and Labour released a decision (PDF: 19k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13 (1)(b) of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act.

The undertaking has been approved subject to a number of conditions (PDF: 20k). The proponent is required to obtain all other necessary approvals, permits or authorizations before commencing work on the undertaking.
