The Better Regulation Initiative is a province-wide process to improve the laws and regulations in Nova Scotia. The Competitiveness and Compliance Initiative (CCI) is a key part of the Better Regulation Initiative.

The CCI is a 5 year initiative (2005-2010) designed by Nova Scotia Environment and Labour and Workforce Development to improve the departments’ regulatory systems, and achieve better compliance with provincial laws. Both departments are now integrating the CCI into its regular departmental practices.
