How to Order a Copy of a Birth, Marriage or Death Registration

• You must complete an Order Form. Adobe Acrobat
• Order Forms are available online for download, or onsite at NSARM.
• You must include payment in advance, either by cheque or money order.
• Payment is requested in Canadian funds; exchange cannot be given on US currency.
• Cheques and money orders must be payable to ‘Public Archives of Nova Scotia'.
• Mail-in Order Forms and payment (cheque or money order only) should be sent to:

• You may drop off your Order Form and payment in person at NSARM, but counter service is not available for Vital Statistics searches; normal turn-around time is 10 working days; please allow additional time for postal service delivery.

Fee Schedule

• Fees and full information must be submitted before a search will be initiated.
• Copies are provided in accordance with the information on file and cannot be returned for refund.
• Fee includes a five-year search around the date you provide; additional five-year search blocks may be ordered, if you are unsure of the date.
• For Birth, Marriage and Death searches, $10.00 will be refunded if you provide full information and a registration cannot be located.
• Fees include copying charges, taxes and regular (first-class) postage rates.
