 next >

This photograph was used by coroners J.H. Barnstead and Charles W. Benjamin to identify Body No. 18 as Mr. William Carbines of Higher Stennack, St. Ives, Cornwall, England. Carbines was a 19-year-old second-class passenger on the Titanic. When his body was recovered, this heavily water-stained photograph, along with a silver watch and chain, coins, pipe, knife and personal papers, was found on the body. Carbines was travelling to Calumet, Michigan to join his brothers. His body was returned to England for burial.
