Acadian Heartland:
The Records of British Government at Annapolis Royal, 1713-1749

Using the Online Books

There are two ways to use the record-books and minute-books in their online format.

Each of the three published volumes has an index, reproduced electronically in both English and French. Each item in the index is hyper-linked to the appropriate page in the book.

Since the three volumes were scanned using optical character recognition software, it is also possible for researchers to type into the search box any word or phrase of particular interest. The results displayed will present all pages within the three volumes containing that word or phrase.

In addition, a number of specific incidents or subjects described in the three published volumes have been linked electronically to digital images of the original handwritten documents—depending on the legibility and physical condition of the originals.
