Nova Scotia Archives and Records Management (NSARM) is a division of the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage. The Executive Director / Provincial Archivist is W. Brian Speirs.
NSARM is responsible for developing, carrying out and providing:
Archives Management
preserves corporate memory and contributes to government accountability by delivering the archival component of NSARM's integrated archives and records management program, and is a leading contributor to the preservation of the province's documentary heritage.Public Services
develops and carries out a range of client-centred reference services to ensure broad public access to the province's corporate memory and documentary heritage; and also develops and maintains two Internet Websites — NSARM @ www.gov.ns.ca/nsarm and Nova Scotia Historical Vital Statistics @ www.novascotiagenealogy.com — both offering a broad variety of online resources and services designed to help Nova Scotians build a sense of identity by exploring their family, community and provincial heritage.Records Management
contributes to good governance and accountability by providing effective records management services to Government. Records Management monitors compliance with the corporate records management policy and establishes government-wide standards, guidelines and procedures for the systematic management of government records. Records management services are available to all Government departments, agencies, board and commissions.
