LABOUR/ADVANCED EDUCATION–Minimum Wage Increases to $10.15


The minimum wage in Nova Scotia increases to $10.15 April 1.

The minimum wage for inexperienced workers, with less than three months' experience in the work for which they were hired, rises to $9.65.

Beginning this year,increases to the minimum wage now occur annually in April based on Consumer Price Index from the previous calendar year. This will keep the rate in line with the Low Income Cut Off set by Statistics Canada. This represents the point where people are devoting a significantly larger than average percentage of their income to the basic necessities of food, shelter and clothing.
