Queen's Counsel Appointments Announced

Twelve lawyers can add the prestigious Queen's Counsel designation to their considerable legal and community accomplishments.

Minister of Justice and Attorney General Ross Landry announced the Q.C. appointments today, Dec. 22.

The appointees are:

  • Sir Graham Day, Hantsport
  • John D. Plowman, Halifax
  • William Delaney, Halifax
  • Vincent A. Gillis, Sydney
  • Lawrence John Stordy, Halifax
  • Karen Oldfield, Halifax
  • Anthony M. Tam, Halifax
  • John A. McKiggan, Halifax
  • R. Daren Baxter, Hammonds Plains
  • C. LouAnn Chiasson, Dartmouth
  • Dwight J.W. Rudderham, Sydney
  • Phillip M. Saunders, Halifax

"These appointees have earned the respect of colleagues and many others by making strong personal contributions to their communities and the legal profession," Mr. Landry said.

Recommendations are made to cabinet by an independent advisory committee. Criteria include a minimum of 15 years as a member of the bar of Nova Scotia, demonstrated professional integrity, good character and outstanding contributions to the practice of law.
