Export Rally Luncheon Features HRM Exporter of the Year

Nova Scotia Business Inc. (Dec. 2004 - Nov. 2022)

Trade Team Nova Scotia will host an Export Rally on Tuesday, Nov. 23, to provide information to business owners about how they can increase their customer base by selling their goods and services outside the province.

Export Rally participants will also be among the first to find out who is the Halifax Regional Municipality Exporter of the Year.

The one-day workshop, at the Holiday Inn Harbourview, Dartmouth, is open to product and service-based companies in all sectors, markets and stages of business.

"Trading internationally is important as it increases sales, generates new customers and allows companies to become more competitive," said Mike McMurray, co-chair of Trade Team Nova Scotia. "The Export Rally is focused on educating business owners about how to take their business to the next level and features the resources available to help them do that."

Export Rally participants can choose from workshops including:

  • how to select an export market
  • managing financial risk
  • international certification
  • opportunities in European markets
  • tips for crossing the U.S. border

The event will also include a resource exhibition with representatives from organizations with programs and services available for companies.

William Allaway of Acadian Maple Products is the keynote speaker for the luncheon. Mr. Allaway grew his family business from the garage to an internationally recognized maple syrup processor.

"Exporting is a large part of our company's business," said Mr. Allaway. "After a short time in business we realized that we could sell our products beyond the borders of our province and create a larger client base. Now we get to represent Nova Scotia and sell to the world."

The Halifax Regional Municipality Exporter of the Year will also be announced during the luncheon.

Registration for the event is $35 plus tax, which includes access to all of the workshops and lunch. For more information or to register, visit www.exportrally.ca .

Since September 2009, three Export Rallies have been held in various communities around the province including Cape Breton, Wolfville and Truro.
