Site Selected for New Lunenburg P-9 School

Education (July 1999 - March 2013)

The grounds and playing fields of Lunenburg Junior-Senior High School will soon be home to a new, modern Primary to Grade 9 school.

A $21.4-million school will be built on the Knickle Road site of the current junior-senior high.

The new school will feature the latest in learning and environmental features. It will open in 2011.

"We are investing in a state-of-the-art school that will prepare the students of Lunenburg and area for future success," Education Minister Marilyn More said. "This facility will meet the needs of students and the community for years to come."

The location was preferred by the board and community. The existing Lunenburg Junior-Senior High will be demolished. It is expected about 560 students will attend the school when it opens.

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal will oversee the design and construction. Site work will begin next year.
