Members Selected for African Nova Scotian Community Action Partnerships

The first meeting of members selected to be part of two African Nova Scotian Community Action Partnership (ANSCAP) committees was held on Saturday, Nov. 24.
Members for both the community engagement and youth leadership partnerships were selected this fall.
The committees include students, community activists, educators, medical practitioners and other professionals from most regions of the province.
The volunteer group will take on an advisory role.
"Members will be expected to bring insight and expertise to a variety of issues of interest to and directly affecting the African Nova Scotian community," said Barry Barnet, Minister of African Nova Scotian Affairs.
The groups will determine meeting schedules, issues to tackle in future meetings and will make recommendations to African Nova Scotian Affairs.
The partnerships will also benefit African Nova Scotian communities. The groups will give committee members a chance to contribute to their community by discussing and analyzing various issues and future projects from a grassroots, capacity building perspective, in an organized, productive way. The committees will then help bring solutions to government.

Additional African Nova Scotian Community Action Partnership committees will be considered as the need arises.
