Public Lecture on Preventing Cervical Cancer
Cancer Care Nova Scotia will host a public lecture Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Halifax on preventing cervical cancer. The lecture will include information about Pap tests, the human papilloma virus (HPV) and the HPV vaccine.
It is part of the Cancer Answers lecture series, designed to provide Nova Scotians with quality cancer information. It will be presented by Dr. Robert Grimshaw, medical director of Cancer Care Nova Scotia's Cervical Cancer Prevention Program.
"Regular Pap tests and the HPV vaccine -- together they are powerful tools in the fight against cervical cancer, a cancer which is almost entirely preventable," said Dr. Grimshaw. "This lecture is one more opportunity for us to reach out to Nova Scotians and provide them with the information they need to take action and make cervical cancer a disease of the past."
The lecture will be held between 7 p.m and 8 p.m. in the Royal Bank Lecture Theatre of the Halifax Infirmary, 1796 Summer St., Halifax. It will also be available by video conference at:
