Environmental Assessment Board Holds Hearings on Petrochemical Project

The Nova Scotia Environmental Assessment Board will hold public hearings on a proposed liquified natural gas, petrochemical and electrical co-generation project that is being proposed for the Goldboro Industrial Park, Guysborough County.

The hearings will be held from Nov. 20 to Nov. 25 in Guysborough, Sherbrooke, and Antigonish. The project is being proposed by Keltic Petrochemical Inc. of Halifax.

The hearings schedule is:

  • Guysborough, Royal Canadian Legion Hall (Branch 81), 10628 Highway 16: Monday, Nov. 20, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  • Sherbrooke, Lions Community Centre, 7996 Highway 7: Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  • Antigonish, Claymore Inn, 136 Church St.: Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Thursday, Nov. 23, from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov. 25, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Further dates and/or locations may be scheduled following Nov. 6, the deadline for interested parties to advise the Environmental Assessment Board that they wish to make presentations at the hearings. Any additional sessions will be advertised.

The hearings concern the environmental assessment of the proposed project.
