Principal Assistant Named

Premier Rodney MacDonald has announced the appointment of Stephen Greene as principal assistant to the premier and director of community relations.

"I am very pleased to have such a qualified individual join my team in this important and challenging role," Mr. MacDonald said today, Sept. 7. "Stephen's past experience in business and the public sector will serve him well in his new responsibilities."

Mr. Greene comes to the premier's office from the Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia, where he was executive director for the past eight years. From 1993 to 1997, he served on Parliament Hill as chief of staff to Reform Party leader Preston Manning.

He also served in senior management positions in the seafood industry with Clearwater Fine Foods and H.B. Nickerson and Sons, as well as vice-consul at the Canadian Consulate in Boston in the mid-1980s.

Mr. Greene's appointment is effective on Monday, Sept. 11.
