Premier's Office

Team Nova Scotia brought home the gold, silver and bronze from this summer's Canada Games.

Medal winners, their coaches and managers, flag bearers and mission staff were honoured today, Oct. 13, by Premier John Hamm and Nova Scotia Health Promotion Minister Rodney MacDonald at Province House in Halifax.

"Every Nova Scotian has reason to be proud of the accomplishments of Team Nova Scotia at this summer's Canada Games," said Premier Hamm. "Our athletes, coaches, managers and supporters represented our province in an exemplary manner. It's our pleasure to recognize them here today."

Team Nova Scotia came home with 46 medals and many new personal bests. Medals were won in athletics, canoe/kayak, rowing, women's basketball, rugby, sailing and swimming.

"Today's reception is to celebrate a job well done," said Mr. MacDonald. "These athletes inspire all Nova Scotians to strive for their goals, and make physical activity a part of their lives through sport."

Team members were introduced in the legislature and attended a reception in honour of their performance at the Games.
