New Crown Attorney for New Glasgow

Public Prosecution Service

The New Glasgow office of the Public Prosecution Service has a new Crown attorney. Anne Calder was appointed to the office today by Martin Herschorn, deputy director of the Public Prosecution Service. Ms. Calder will assume her new duties in mid-April.

Mr. Herschorn said Ms. Calder brings a wealth of prosecution experience in youth, provincial and supreme courts to her position in New Glasgow. "Crown attorneys are an important component of our criminal justice position," said Mr. Herschorn. "We are fortunate to have someone of Anne's calibre fulfilling this role in New Glasgow."

Ms. Calder is currently a casual Crown attorney in the Halifax region. Before coming to Halifax in April 1997, she was a casual Crown attorney in the Truro office.

Previously, she represented the Crown part time while in private criminal law practice in Pictou. A native of Amherst, Ms. Calder is a graduate of Dalhousie and Carleton universities, and University of British Columbia Law School.
