  • Only 9 species of reptiles occur in Nova Scotia

  • South Western Nova Scotia is home to a disjunct population of Blandings Turtle with only about 300 adults

  • 42 species of reptiles occur in Canada

  • There are about 6,500 species of reptiles in the world

  • Reptiles had the second highest proportion of species at risk (RED ~11.0%) and sensitive species (YELLOW ~22.0%) among those taxonomic groups considered
