    Quick Facts

  • 116 species of dragonflies and damselflies have been reported in Nova Scotia

  • A large dragonfly known as the Quebec Emerald, has only been recorded from bogs on the Cape Breton Highlands, and Cumberland County and only a few other locations in the world

  • Much of what we know about the distribution of dragonflies in Nova Scotia and eastern Canada has been through the work of dedicated naturalists

  • The Odonata had the highest proportion of species with undetermined status (Undetermined ~ 28.0%) of any taxonomic group considered
