Located on the Mira River between Sydney and the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site of Canada, Mira River Provincial Park has provided regionally-significant opportunities for outdoor recreation to Nova Scotians and out-of-province visitors for over 40 years. Almost an island in the midst of Mira River, the 86 hectare property provides an attractive setting for a range of nature-based outdoor activities while also protecting important natural and cultural heritage values.
This management plan defines a vision and management philosophy that will guide park management decisions for Mira River Provincial Park over the next 20 years. In addition, the plan establishes a policy and decision-making framework for a major redevelopment of the park which is anticipated to commence in 2009.
