CLMAP |
| Data Type: |
String |
| Width: |

| Description: |
This is the NTS area in which the drillholes are located. The entry is composed of a letter number code defined as follows; NTS quadrant, backslash, followed by the particular 1:50000 map and which section it further falls into. To determine which NTS quadrant the drillhole is in, consult the Geoscan Authority or use the 1:1000000 map of Nova Scotia. The 1:50000 maps are divided into four sections (A, B, C and D). eg. a drillhole collared in Halifax would have Cl Map = 11D/12D and a drillhole in Yarmouth would have Cl Map = 20O/16A. |

Northings are seven digit values. Since you cannot pinpoint the exact location of a drillholes, always round numbers to the nearest 10 ( e.g. an easting of 304452 would be entered as 304450). These fields are the numerical values, in meters, on the NAD-83 6 degree UTM grid which pinpoints the location of the drillhole. They may be generated by using the roamer on the 1:50000 maps or by using the conversion program if lat/long coordinates are known. In the last couple years of indexing coordinated were determined in ArcView using scanned and georeferenced maps. |

Some options for the document code are: AR = assessment report, the most common form; OFR = open file report, common for NSDNR drillholes. For example the tenth assessment report from 1988 would be referenced as AR 88-010. older assessment report have a different form to the number and are documented as such in the DNR library. |

This may arise when the documentation has not been explicit or the information has been lost. Often government drilling contains a record number for the core as opposed to a company drillhole number |
