AbstractThis data set consists of one TIFF image, one JPEG image, and 9 PDF Open File Maps of airborne VLF-EM ortho total field data covering most of the Cobequid Highlands in northern Nova Scotia and part of the TGI-2 project area. Airborne geophysical data used to generate these images were supplied by the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) - Geophysical Data Centre, 615 Booth St., Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 0E9. This high-resolution VLF-EM data was digitally acquired as part of the Parrsboro Survey (GSC Project #189). The data used to produce this image is the de-corrugated measured total field response using the "Orthogonal" transmitter. The "Orthogonal" transmitter for GSC Project #189 is Cutler, Maine. Total field VLF-EM data provide a measure of the internal electrical character (i. e. resistivity/conductivity) of the underlying Quaternary and bedrock geology. VLF-EM data is not processed to the same levels as the associated magnetic data channel and are also subject to different artifacts and biases. For a more complete description please refer to King (2003 and 2004). The 24-bit colour images were produced with a 25m pixel size. Shading was from the south at 35 degrees above the horizon. For complete details an Open File Report will be forthcoming from M. S. King later in 2004. The images were produced by contractor M. S. King using funds provided under the Natural Resources Canada and Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources joint project 'Mapping, Mineral and Energy Resource Evaluation, Central Nova Scotia', part of Natural Resources Canada's Targeted Geoscience Initiative (TGI-2) 2003-2005. |
