AbstractThis data set consists of one TIFF, one JPEG image and one PDF Open File Map of bouguer gravity and residual bouguer gravity covering most of northern mainland Nova Scotia. The total field bouguer gravity and residual bouguer gravity map images were produced from data contained in Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources, Open File Report ME 1995-005. Gravity station spacing is variable throughout the map sheet and artifacts related to station spacing may be present in the final map image. The total field data set contains the cumulative measured response from surface features to upper crustal sources. The residual gravity image was derived from the total field data by subtracting long-wavelength (~> 8-10 km) signal from the total field data to enhance near surface (< 5 km) features. Station spacing restricts grid cell size to 500 m with a 8000 m blanking distance, which restricts near surface spatial resolution in the published map image. The 24-bit colour images were produced with a 25m pixel size. Shading was from the southeast at 35 degrees above the horizon. For complete details an Open File Report will be forthcoming from M. S. King later in 2004. The images were produced by contractor M. S. King using funds provided under the Natural Resources Canada and Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources joint project 'Mapping, Mineral and Energy Resource Evaluation, Central Nova Scotia', part of Natural Resources Canada's Targeted Geoscience Initiative (TGI-2) 2003-2005. |
