Pole-stage Stand
This stand or group of trees was growing in very dense or crowded conditions. Competition for food, water and space will prevented them from reaching their full growth potential. A silviculture operation known as a pre-commercial thinning or spacing, carried out while the trees were still young, is helping them achieve their optimum size.

The less desirable trees (malformed, diseased, etc.) were removed to enable the remaining trees to grow faster and be of better quality.
