Ensuring the future...
The area pictured here was cleared of an overstory
of Eastern Hemlock severely damaged
by porcupine. A portion of the area was replanted and the remainder
was left to regenerate on its’ own. In the ensuing years, the
forest has quickly grown back, producing a diverse population of trees
and other plant species. As we have seen on our tour, insects, weather
and animals all play roles in the ecology of the forest.
