Scalers Courses - for Scalers of Logs & Stacked Wood


Scaling School
     
When:
  October 6th to 10th (inclusive), 2008
     
Where:   Nova Scotia Agriculture College Conference Centre - Administration Building - AgriTECH Park, Bible Hill, Nova Scotia .

This Scaling School is primarily intended for people with previous training and/or experience in scaling. Candidates may write the Stacked Wood Scalers Exam and/or the Log Scaling Exam.

Candidates who complete the written exams and practical tests to the satisfaction of the Board of Examiners (Scaling) and who obtain the required scaling experience, will qualify for a Pulpwood Scaling License, a Sawlog Scaling License or a Primary Wood Products Scaling License which authorizes the person to scale all primary wood products.

The fee for the Scaling School is $61.48 (HST included). To apply download the Application form and return with the applicable fee to address below.

Refresher Courses

The Scalers Act requires all scalers to successfully complete a Refresher Course every five (5) years. Failure to do so will result in the scaler being placed on an “Inactive List”. Inactive Scalers will not be permitted to scale wood in the Province. Scalers are requested to check their wallet cards for their expiry date.
